Mackay Powerboat Club was founded in 2018 by local members Brad Nelson and Families. Mackay Powerboat Club has continued to run and grow in the last three years. We are a not for profit organisation whose primary focus is on club growth and development of Powerboat racing in the Mackay region while supporting local charities. The Club utilises local facilities – Kinchant Dam and supports local businesses and communities. We are a predominantly local member base with some southern and northern Queensland members who travel to race with us and are now great mates.
We support our drivers and junior racing’s growth and development while educating and promoting water and driver safety in watercraft. We focus on building teamwork and being an inclusive club. We teach and support our members about boat maintenance, safety and skills. Our junior members are encouraged to help and assist with the maintenance of their boats while learning about racing and fair play rules and regulations.
We are a family-friendly club where our focus is on including the whole family. We organise race days and have social days to enjoy telling stories of racing and building a positive community. As a club, we pride ourselves on being open, honest and supportive of all our members while encouraging personal growth and growth of the sport of powerboat racing.
